Craft Show At Library Opens Today
Demonstrations by local handicraft artists in wood metal clay and weaving highlight an open house at the High Point Public Library today from 1 to p.m. The event honors the first traveling exhibition Southern Highland Handicraft Guild North Carolina Crafts on display through February featuring 100 Appalachian works from North Carolina’s 24 mountain counties. Demonstrators include E R Kennerly Thomasville clay wheel pottery Barbara Platt Jamestown Marilyn Spence High Point Tadeusz A Poppe and S A Kosinski wood carving Elizabeth B Miller Greensborough and Dr John L Andrews Jr High Point. The NC craft exhibition is co sponsored by the North Carolina State Arts Council. The show includes carved wood pieces baskets glass enamels pottery jewelry pillows throws silkscreen prints. The library is open today only for the exhibition and not for normal business as it is Sunday. The exhibit is part of the Southern Highland Handicraft Guild educational program based in Asheville, a nine state group.

Cinema Cafe to Show Kangaroo Nature Film at Library

Blue Law Enforcement Confusion Lingers After Court Ruling
Police will not enforce the city blue law until directly notified that the restraining order is lifted. The injunction began in 1969 after three discount stores challenged the law. The North Carolina Supreme Court later upheld the law, with certification to Guilford County Superior Court completed on Thursday. Attorneys for the stores say they do not plan to open today.

Union Hill Adds Teacher as New Housing Draws Pupils
