Tax on Chain Stations Draws Expected Revenue Increase
The new chain station tax targets up to 38 stations at standard rates but raises steeply for chains with 38 or more stations. Authorities estimate the tax will generate 250000 to 350000 dollars annually. Two years ago a similar tax was projected at 250000 dollars but evasion and protests reduced actual yield while lawsuits followed. Analysts say the present plan is designed to be highly evasion proof, aiming to stump large oil firms and top attorneys.
