He was born March 12. 1925, in High Point a son of Robert l. Alston and the late Clara Torrence Alston. He attended Public schools in High Point and was a member of the National afro american builders corp he was the promoter of gospel singing for this area. He was a lifelong member of Oak Grove Christian Church and Sang with the heavenly gospel choir for several years. He was owner of the w. W Alston Concrete co. Survivors include his wife mrs. Emmaline Tyson Alston of the Home two sons. William t. And Bernard f. Alston both of High Point three daughters Robbie and Delia Alston both of High Point and Jerry Davis of new London Conn seven grandchildren his father. Robert l. County school superintendent John Lawrence said today. Lawrence said that the lunch plate increase was actually approved by the Randolph county Board of education in August but was prevented from going into effect at that time by the presidents Price freeze. He said that now the county system has received word from both the u. S. Internal Revenue service and the school food service division of the North Carolina department of Public instruction that the Price increase is not out of line and permissible under the phase 2 program. Pupils in grades one through six will pay 35 cents per plate and students in grades 7 through 12 will pay 40 cents per plate.
