Posse Captures Armed Negroes in Alabama Shootout
In SEAL Alabama on December 30 a posse led by Sheriff Ragland near Pittsview captured three armed black men who wounded a deputy sheriff and four white men who had pursued a suspected attacker of a farmer’s wife. Brothers L C Hill and Cleveland Hill were among the captured. The farmer’s husband, knocked unconscious by the assailant, recovered and reported the incident from Hartsboro.
