Engineer Falls Through Trestle In Greensboro Injury Improves

C B Williams, injured Monday night after falling through a trestle on West Bragg Street in Greensboro, shows marked improvement at High Point hospital where he was taken. An engine operator for the Greensboro yards of the Southern Railway, Williams suffered bruises to his arm shoulder and right side and shock. His mother lives nearby and hospital staff say recovery is expected.

Elk Minstrel Array of Talent at Orpheum January Plans

Initial Elks minstrel preparations at the Elks home on West Broad Street for January shows are set. Tonight at 7:30 the first rehearsal will gather volunteers including James Stewart Frank Brown Thomas J. Gold and many others to begin practicing with the Elks orchestra. The director will focus on vocalists and the dancing chorus during opening preparations.

In Steubenville Ohio authorities report a theft from Lawrence Shields a prisoner at the county jail totaling 28 dollars and a sold watch carried out by three fellow prisoners freed from their cells by a trusted inmate. Two Robbers Die as River Train Hold-Up Ends

In Kankakee Ill one of two youths believed to be bandits in the New Orleans Chicago river hold up on the Illinois Central near Arena Park was killed in a gun battle with police and railroad investigators early today. The other surrendered. The brothers Joe and Jacob Scott ages 24, are said to be sons of an automobile mechanic from Greenville Illinois.

New York December 29 There was renewed selling at the cotton market opening with first prices down 20 to 83 points. Most months hit new low records while January held the least decline. Weak cables and British mercantile discouragement fed the drops, with March at 13.16 and May at 13.30, sparking some covering rallies of 15 to 5 points.
