Barrymore tires of mushy roles in movie career
John Barrymore seeks varied acting work moving from Hamlet to films on the West Coast. He rejects polite lover parts for The Sea Beast, a renamed Moby Dick, with Dolores Costello as leading lady. He endures danger scenes, calling the sea production the only film he truly likes. He starts Don Juan with Mary Astor and then Sabatini’s The Tavern Knight.
