Sanford avoids pressing budget panel to name Coltrane chair
Gov. Sanford says he will not press the Advisory Budget Commission to name former Budget Officer D. S. Coltrane as chairman. He called it a wise recommendation and will not make it a major issue. Coltrane remains in government as a special efficiency expert while awaiting a decision. The commission objected on policy grounds to appointing Coltrane as chair. Sanford also said he visited Washington to attract a new industry to Eastern North Carolina and expects a response in about 10 days.
