North Carolina Faces Redistricting For 1962 Elections
In North Carolina the three dozen House seats will shrink from 12 to 10 for the 88th Congress. Incumbents including Kornegay in the Sixth and Kitchin, Jonas in the Eighth face redrawn districts, with most members planning to campaign in new territories. The map adds Mecklenburg, Davidson, and other counties, making primaries likely to test incumbents. Anticipated opposition centers on Biblike districts as veterans defend campaigns in a changed electoral landscape.
