Is A Porcupine Dangerous
A Britannica excerpt explains porcupine defense via quills. It notes North American porcupines reach about two feet, sleep in trees by day, forage at night, and rely on quills that can be up to 14 inches long. Quills lodge in attackers, causing infections and organ damage, while predators may flip the porcupine to strike its belly. Porcupines are nearsighted and use quills to deter threats.
