Southern Bell Executives Are Ordered Arrested
Eight current and former Southern Bell Telephone Co. executives receive arrest orders on sealed indictments for falsifying records in a North Carolina probe into $152,000 in diverted funds via bogus expense vouchers from 1972 to 1973. Indicted are John B. Smith Edward F. Sykes Floyd B. Houck Judson M. Palmer Marion C. Bowers Henry H. Helms Frank E. Roberts Francis D. Jeffrson. bond set at 5000 each with pretrial release.
