Marriageable Brides cost Macedonian men in boom market
In Macedonia scarce marriageable girls command high sums, with Kadri Billali paying $1,750 down and $3,500 more in gold to wed his 11 year old bride. Navzat Biljali appealed to Tito for relief, citing 40 000 to 60 000 dinars plus gold. A cabinet spokesman urged social action to end bride buying though no specific measures were named.
