Bishop's Career To Be Terminated

Five months after his disappearance and the murder of his wife and three sons, the State Department prepares to end William Bradford Bishop's diplomatic career. Officials see no trace of him and assume he is alive but out of the country, while his position remains vacant and his pay halted. Local authorities tie the case to the Great Smoky Mountains area where his car and a bloodstained blanket were found. FBI and state investigators express cautious optimism about solving the case, noting persistence in pursuit despite dead ends.
