Landmark Beheaded in four bank robbery plot
Police quoted Burke that four messengers were innocent pawns in a scheme tied to a master mind using the name Charles Hudson. The plan sent payroll like messages to women tellers at four banks prompting them to fill bags with cash under hostage threats. One haul reached about 12 000 dollars at Belfort State Bank while another messenger was stopped with 10 050 dollars. Three banks failed to net loot, while the mastermind disappeared with the Belfort sum and may be linked to an 18 year old boy theft in Las Vegas on March 12. A similar ruse has surfaced in Pensacola and other attempted robberies were at Harrisburg National Bank, MacGregor Park National Bank and Spring Branch Bank. The messengers claimed to have been hired after applying with the Texas Employment office in Houston.
