High Point Enterprise (Newspaper) - April 23, 1976, High Point, North Carolina So High Point Enterprise Friday april 23, 1976 drama review Little Black Book is a Gem of a comedy a Gem of a comedy polished and performed to near perfection is the Little Black Book at the barn dinner theatre. A synopsis of the situation in this play by Jean Claude Carriere. Adapted for its american version by Jerome Kilty does not even suggest the brightness of this unusual comedy. You will hate to see this one come to an end briefly a Bachelor Gene is a Young attorney with a promising Law practice before him in new York City. He is orderly and punctual in his life to the degree that he keeps in a Black Book a detailed record of his liaisons with Young women he is just recording experience number 134 when through the open doorway into his apartment walks Suzanne she explains she is looking for a or Fleming before a surprised Gene leaves for his office Suzanne has settled into his apartment naturally a relationship develops Between Gene and Suzanne but it is a relationship that Gene has not experienced before in his encounters with women both Are in different degrees shy and sensitive both have their defences against the world for Gene it is his Little Black Book for Suzanne it is or Fleming they Parry at each other carefully with the result being that they learn More about themselves As Well. They change for the better and in that change there is warmth and happiness and satisfaction. Jim Fisher and Dana k Warner Are the performers in Quot the Little Black both Are familiar from previous roles at the barn if is no Surprise that their Talent for comedy Flowers in full Bloom in this instance. The Only Point i would quibble about is the clapping of hands each does throughout the play As a sort of exclamation Point to the action or what they Are saying otherwise Fisher and miss Warner Are in Superb control of the characters they go through one slapping scene a she hits him he hits her Back and Forth for several exchanges a that Only two such talented performers can pull off believably. The direction by Bobby Brandt the set and the sound effects by Rich Buffington All support fully the talents of Fisher and miss Warner. A the Little Black books glows warmly with their efforts.
