Sources and timing of plant nutrients in fertilizers
The article explains two fertilizer sources organic and inorganic. Organic materials decompose slowly, releasing nutrients over weeks to years, allowing large applications with lasting effects. Inorganic salts dissolve quickly, especially nitrate of soda, so they should be used in small, spread-out doses to avoid burning plants and leaching by rain.
