Diamonds Asheboro Randolph county commissioners have turned thumbs Down on a proposal that the county Aid the City of High Point in enforcing zoning Laws affecting Mobile Homes in 2 Small areas of Randolph covered under High Point s extra territorial zoning Laws. County manager Harold Holmes says High Point officials want Randolph to give up its right to conduct electrical inspections in the Small affected area of the county. This Way the City of High Point could then refuse Mobile Homes electrical permits in effect causing them to locate some other place. High Point in 1972. Exercised the right Given to a municipalities to zone one mile outside corporate limits and put its zoning regulations into effect in this Small area of Randolph county. The area has a High density of Mobile Homes and under the High Point zoning Laws Mobile Home owners find it hard to meet standards. Holmes said a number of the Mobile Homes had been moved out of the area because of the zoning requirements. He said however that those Mobile Homes located in the Section before the Law went into effect Are not affected. High Point can zone the Small Randolph area but the ramblings City has no Way to enforce the ordinance so City officials asked for a meeting with Holmes. The meeting also attended by Randolph county health administrator George Elliott turned up no solutions. Randolph county commission chairman William Farlow has said he sees no Way the county can give up its right to electrical inspections in the area because this is one Way to make sure the Homes Are listed on the tax books. Randolph commissioners Are backing Farlow so it appears High Point will continue to zone the area but will have no Way to enforce its ordinance. The new Randolph county dog Pound near Central Falls has already begun to take its toll of the county a stray canine population according to Elliott. The county health official says 107 dogs have been a humanely destroyed in the first 30 Days the Pound has been in operation. He said five dogs were saved when Homes were found for them. Elliott says the largest number of complaints concerning stray dogs comes from the Archdale and Trinity area which does not have any Type of dog control program and depends on the for such services. The health department administrator is in the process of visiting All the municipal boards in Randolph to learn How those officials expect the county to Aid them in dog control programs. Most of the towns have their own dog wardens and pounds but Archdale does not.
