Maxwell Revenue Bill Would Cut Corporate Taxes in North Carolina
Raleigh report details Commissioner Maxwell declaring the Day revenue plan would cut corporate taxes by about 2.49 million dollars annually while shifting most sales tax impact to individuals. He argues counties would gain from higher sales receipts, and contrasts the plan with ad valorem tax methods before noting Beaufort and Cumberland counties face different annual burdens under the two options. Also included is a brief feature about J. B. Turner and his wife in a Memphis wedding anecdote.
