Two Sought On Assault Charge In Rides To Norfolk

North Carolina Senate Votes To Retain Admissions Tax

In Raleigh on April 3 AP reports the North Carolina Senate, meeting as a committee of the whole, approved more than 70 sections of a house revenue bill. The first article raising inheritance tax rates by one percent passed, and half of the license tax section followed. The chamber remained tense amid a looming battle over a 10 percent admissions tax for college games and amusements, with a 27 to 22 vote to retain the tax.

Bodies of Dead Brought Ashore in Malaga Collision

Malaga authorities near completed inquiry into the collision of the French liner Florida and aircraft carrier HMS Glorious in dense fog east of Gibraltar.
