Duke Researchers Move In To Photograph Monitor's Remains
Duke University researchers plan a weeklong photographic survey of the Monitor wreck 15 miles south of Cape Hatteras to locate and recover pieces such as the rudder and anchor. Led by John Newton, the effort uses a sea probe with television guided claws, but raising the main hull remains 36 to 40 years away.
