James Lazos expresses deep gratitude for the assistance of Howard A Banks, secretary to the Secretary of the Navy, in arranging funds for his wife stranded in Greece. Banks advised cable transfer through the Treasury, endorsed a cashier's check, obtained funds from the Navy Disbursing Office, accompanied him to the Treasury, and vouched for him. A second telegram led to the Consular Bureau locating Mrs Lazos in Patras and delivering the funds, later deposited with the U S Treasurer.
