Mauney and Roseman Ice Plant Plan Blocked

The Democrat reported that J A Mauney and R M Roseman of Lincolnton abandoned an ice plant project after Hickory Ice and Coal Co bought their holdings. Citizens plan a rival plant near Piedmont Wagon Co along the Southern Railway. County commissioners met and ordered tax relief, road work rules, and jail renovations, with deputies to manage road labor and delinquents.

Mrs Veronica Weizera Reitzel of Henry J Reitzel died January 12 1915 aged 7 years and 7 days at her home near Conover She was daughter of Henry Ingold and Leah Elizabeth Henkel granddaughter of Rev David Henkel and great granddaughter of Rev Paul Henkel Mother of eleven children seven living Her funeral at St John s church drew many friends and a large attendance reflecting wide esteem

Only Mrs Murray Escaped Beaurore Yacht Fire

A private yacht Julia burned near Englehard North Carolina killing nineteen five people. The explosion of a gasoline tank caused the blast and left only Mrs J W Murray alive after she swam to shore. The vessel carried head of Borlis G P Dodson and two crew members. The gas filled cabin ignited when a match was struck.

Mrs. Emeline Hart Rites At Mt Olive Church

Mrs. Emeline Hart 70 years old and widow of R K R Han died last Saturday January 16 at her son Luther Hart home. Daughter of Abel Sides of Hickory she was a longtime member of Mt Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church and died in faith. Funeral was held Sunday at Mt Olive Church conducted by Rev E J Sox with a large crowd. She rests in Mt Olive cemetery.

Dr John F Winn dies prominent Richmond physician

Dr John Farmer Winn aged 64 a professor at the Medical College of Virginia and longtime editor of the Richmond Journal of Practice died at his home in Richmond this evening. He served twenty three years with the journal and was active in the Richmond Academy of Surgery and Medicine after graduating from the University of Virginia.

Beulah Buck Quartette Coming to Hub Theatre

Mexico City reports Gen Roque Gonzalez Garza named Provisional President by a session of the convention. The ex-presidents Gutierrez and Generals Bianco Robles Vasconcelos left the city for Pachuca as martial law is imposed. Another School Building Needed in Hickory

Enrollment shows 807 pupils across Hickory graded schools with 468 in North and 339 in South.
