The Statesville Landmark notes 75,000 pounds of butter fat were shipped from Iredell County cream routes to the creamery. Patrons received $21 for this fat, while plant food cost about $72 to produce the same butter fat.

Eight Injured In Derailed Train Near Caremont
Eight people were injured Friday morning at 7 05 when Southern passenger train No 15 derailed between switches at Caremont between Newton and Statesville. A mail car and a pat sar derailed but officials said none of the injured were in those cars. Crews from Hickory and Asheville repaired the line and cleared the tracks after several cars were moved.
