Nine applicants express interest in YMCA night school as plans proceed. Final courses and opening date will be announced within a week. Applicants should contact A W Snavely, Educational committee chair. Bible classes to start with Sunday meetings and gymnasium reopening to boost winter activities.
M S Hershey entertained 95 Young Men's Christian Association members at the Hershey Cafe Friday evening. The event included a dinner after 7 pm and an after program led by S D Clark, president of the board, who praised the organization and its opportunities.
The toast and speeches at a Hershey gathering urged universal membership for the Young Men's Christian Association to uplift individuals and the broader community. New secretary Eugene W. Pocock, new physical director John G. Kogel, and others spoke on various ways to advance YMCA work. The evening featured performances by the Association Glee Club praised for its high quality.
C S Gee leaves Hershey after fourteen months as YMCA secretary and Press editor. He will visit the South before returning to Geneva Ohio and then study at Auburn Theological Seminary. The community remembers his efficient service and wishes him success.
While operating a moulding machine at a chocolate factory on Tuesday morning David Eckert of Campbell Town caught the second finger on his right hand. The nail and tip were torn off. Dr M L Hershey dressed the wound.
R B W Stauffer of Campbelltown died Sunday afternoon from senile debility after months of illness. A prominent physician in the southwest for about 50 years he amassed wealth and held extensive real estate. Born November 9 1825 in Mastersonville PA he was 85 and a University of Pennsylvania graduate. He married in May 1848.
Hettie Hostetter of Mt. Pleasant Lebanon county survives him. Eleven children were born to them seven living Addison Stauffer Swatara Station Harvey Stauffer Miss Hettie Stauffer Mrs Walker Johnson Mrs Isaac Brandt Mrs John Ebersole Mrs Gibble of Nebraska There are 29 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Funeral from his residence at morning service Rev Jacob Longenecker preached. Ray E Arnold undertaker handled arrangements Burial in Reformed cemetery at Campbelltown.
Director S J Feese leads the Hershey band in a Thursday evening October 5 concert at the park amphitheater. The ensemble aims to top last season with a subscription non concert in the past year style.
Edward Zimmerman employed at the Hershey Chocolate Factory bruised his foot badly in an elevator. No bones were broken. Dr. M L Hershey was called. Tuesday afternoon at 4 30.
