Two Crops of Lancaster Tobacco Sold at High Prices

At the October meeting of Lancaster County Tobacco Growers Association reports show two crops of Lancaster county new tobacco sold at thirty five cents a pound for wrappers and ten cents for fillers. A small number of crops contracted at twenty five to thirty cents for wrappers and ten cents for fillers. Growers expect these prices to hold for the new crop amid heavier yields. Packers dispute and expect 1919 prices around twenty cents. The crop weights run 1500 to 1600 pounds per acre versus 1100 last year.
