Soy Bean Acreage Grows In County
About 600 acres in Dauphin County are planted in soy beans this year after a campaign by the Dauphin County Agricultural Extension Association to boost feed supply. Over 100 farmers across the county grow the crop, which yields one to two and a half tons per acre and contains slightly more protein than alfalfa. The crop helps soil improvement, provides late season green feed, and aids wheat or rye seeding preparations without fall plowing. County Agent R. R.
