A detailed schedule of Y W C A programs in Hershey includes gym and craft sessions for various age groups from November 28 to December 3. Future events feature Mrs John Y Boyd guest lectures on The Greatest Thing in the World with December 7 14 and 21 dates.
The Monarch Basketball team launches its season on Thanksgiving evening in Lebanon against the Y M C A Archers. Clarence Von Neida manages. George Hench coaches. Forwards FE eagy I Robertson, Centre I Leib, Guards S Dissinger P Purcell, Sub G Robertson. The recently auctioned pipe was won by Edward Koppen haver.
The Diakonia Bible Class at Holy Trinity Lutheran Bible School met at Mrs A M Minkel’s home on Friday evening November 18 with 27 members. Routine business concluded and a special program featured readings by Miss Gregg Darrow enhancing an enjoyable gathering. The next meeting will be hosted by Mrs George Dechort.
The Trinity Lutheran Church in Hershey hosts a monthly special music service this Sunday at 7:30 PM. Bass soloist W Carl Winger headlines with choir numbers including Onward Christian Soldiers and A Mighty Fortress is Our God. Organist is Clark Bare, choir directed by Prof Charles F Ziegler, with sermon on A Mighty Fortress.
Hershey High School rallied Friday on Park field to outplay Lower Paxtang High School. Ferrucci scored all three Hershey touchdowns with three extra points, Swartz added two more, and Hershey’s line play strengthened in the second half. The Linglestown visitors showed strong ground gains but could not overtake the home squad.
American Legion Post No. 386 held its monthly session on Tuesday evening November 22. Officers elected included Cyrus Garman as Post Commander Norman Smith first vice president Frank Harvey second vice president and E W Schwenk post adjutant. The social committee offered cider doughnuts and pretzels as the meeting adjourned.
A Hershey Chapter Red Cross gathering in the Baby Circle Room on Friday November 18 heard Mrs Jennings Harrisburg Chapter officer urge delaying the Red Cross Drive until 1922. Hershey becomes a Harrisburg branch and there will be no fall membership campaign. Officers elected include President Mrs T L McJeffey Vice President Mrs G C Phillips Treasurer Mrs J C Snyder Secretary Mrs Hershey.
Tickets for a concert by Hershey Volunteer Fire Company artists are on sale for the December 7 performance at Central Theatre. Soprano Ruth Spancake Baritone Robert Jack and pianist Ada Turner Kurtz will perform. Tickets are selling rapidly and readers are urged to secure seats promptly.
The Union Thanksgiving service of all Protestant Churches in Hershey will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday at 10 o clock. Rev M LeRoy Wuchster will lead the service and Rev Dr W E Daugherty of First United Brethren Church will deliver the sermon. Mrs Edward K Cowan will sing a soprano solo. The day is proclaimed by the U S president and Pennsylvania governor as a day of prayer and thanksgiving for the year's blessings. Citizens are urged to attend this hour of prayer and worship.
The Hershey Central Theatre offers Thanksgiving program on Thursday November 24 featuring The Handicap with Violet Hopson plus Topics of the Day and Major Jack Allen jungle adventures. Saturday November 26 presents Dynamite Allen with Side Show comedy. Tuesday November 29 Pearl White stars in The Mountain Woman with fourth episode of Hurricane Hutch to close.
The Methodist Church observes Universal Bible Sunday with a harvest festival pageant led by women and no male characters. The church will collect donations for the Methodist Hospital of Philadelphia and invites all to attend and participate in the services.
Last Wednesday evening the Grantville high school seniors held a banquet in Grantville. The standout feature was a large old time chicken and waffle supper. Despite steady rain, the group turn out was 100 percent. Chaperones included Mr. Williams and Mia Bachman, with Gladys Atter from Lititz and Mr. Williams Her shey driving the mule.
Thanksgiving shifts the schedule as the NA Club postpones its regular meeting to one day evening December 1. All members are urged to attend.
Herahey High plays its last football game of the season against Palmyra High School on Thursday November 24 at 1030 p m in Palmyra. The big game draws many Herahey rooters to the showdown.
A November 18 meeting in Elizabeth town organized a Tri County Basketball League with teams from Mount Joy Marietta Elizabethtown Manheim Steelton and Hershey. Season runs twelve weeks with two games weekly and games assigned by weekday. A rule committee was formed and officials named with a $25 team deposit and local player rosters required.
The Redpath Lyceum event under John Elder Men’s Bible Class aired November 17 at Hershey Central Theatre. Vera Mackelvie impressed with draftsmanship, Corinne Jessup offered songs and readings, and Mary Johnson contributed contralto selections. The Novelty Four on January 17 is expected to be a standout.
The Ladies' Missionary Society of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church plans its annual bank offering during the regular monthly meeting on Tuesday evening at 7 30 in the church. The program includes readings, prayers, a dramatic sketch Iwo Boxes and a quiz The Daily Offering Why Give It plus songs and the hymn Now Thank We All Our God.
The Derry Presbyterian Sunday School Board met Monday evening November 21 with Mrs. R. S. Woomer to discuss important subjects and plans including a contemplated change in 1922 records. Attendees included Rey Ta Jor G C Phillips TL Relst Mrs J C Black Mrs R S Woomer Naomi Woomer John McKinne R V Owen Jr and Ivan I Meane.
The Diakonia Bible Class of the Lutheran Bible School plans a fresh food sale on Saturday December 3. They will also offer a large variety of fancy needlework articles suitable for Christmas gifts, presenting a chance for double virtue and a likely large turnout.
An Oriental Bazaar will be held at Rev. R. H. Taylor's home 20 West Chocolate Ave during November 25 to December 4 under the Westminister Guild of Derry Presbyterian Church. Goods include toys puzzles handbags bead necklaces baskets linens and decorative wares mostly imported from Japan and China with some items from other lands. Prices range from five cents to dollars with many 25 and 50 cent items. Sale runs each day at noon and evening offering gifts for Christmas and unique educational items.
A corn and potato show organized by the Farm Bureau will be held December 3 at Hershey High School basement. Farmers from southern Dauphin County may enter ten or thirty ears of specified corn and a peck of white, russet, or pink skin potatoes. entries must be grown by the entrant and labeled with name and class.
Hershey Mothers Club will host a Progressive 500 card party to raise funds for the local kindergarten. The event, December 6 at 8 pm in the Winter Dance Hall, costs 60 cents admission with 24 prizes, winners choosing their own prize. Tickets available from club members.
Hershey High School lost 16 to 7 at Middletown High School. Long scored Hershey's lone early TD, while Middletown added two rushing TDs and a fourth quarter safety. Captains Shea Long Swarts Gilman and Ilitz helped stop Middletown's advances.
The W M A of Palmyra Second A M church holds annual Woman's Day services Sunday evening November 27 at 7 30. Rev W Funls recent China missionary will speak. A fine program is planned and all are invited.
