The Board of School Directors of Derry Township schedules sale of 130 bonds on Saturday May 4 at 2 PM in front of McKinley High School Hershey. Bonds are 100 each with 4 percent interest payable semi annually.
Mr M S Hershey hosted a banquet for Hershey Volunteer Fire Company members and their wives in the Hershey Dining room. About 103 attended the decorated event with a red and white color theme, garden-like plants, and a twelve-piece Hershey orchestra. A banquet service followed before toastmaster F B Snavely led speakers including W C Brinker and Dr M L Hershey to discuss fire company and town improvements, with continuation noted on Page 12.
A May Hop event occurs Wednesday evening May 15 at the Hershey Park Pavilion with gaily decorated grounds, a grand program by Prof Feese and an orchestra, features including a Grand March and Moonlight Waltz, carnations for ladies, and admission 20c for men 10c for women. The evening promises an original mock trial with prominent Hershey residents in leading roles.
May 18 set for a book social at the YWCA gymnasium to collect books from the public. A committee from two Christian associations organizes the event and will use the donations to initiate a permanent public library. attendees should bring a book with careful selection.
Discussion in local groups about forming a mixed chorus of twenty five to thirty voices. Feese would lead. the band and orchestra show interest. The Y M C A glee club may continue within the new structure to expand town programs. A meeting planned for the near future.
