Marquis wheat gains attention in United States

Government tests published in Farmers Bulletin 732 note Marquis wheat from Ottawa as an early hybrid which ripens faster and can escape some droughts. In northern prairie states it slightly outyields common spring wheats, but winter and durum wheats often outperform it. It is not recommended west of the Rockies, and is best suited to central South Dakota with irrigation showing limited success elsewhere.
