The Y M C A social committee plans winter socials for all men in the community at the building. On Tuesday March 5 a social will be held with delegates from Bradford state convention to speak on notable convention parts. Contests in the swimming pool, light refreshments, basketball practice, and a welcome to new members are featured allowances.
The crokinole and carrom boards bought for juniors and placed in the reading room attract many. These boards enable games that demand skill and offer at least fifteen variations per board, keeping juniors highly engaged.
The YMCA will host a Sunday afternoon gathering at 3 o clock with Rev. I E Runk of Harrisburg as speaker. His address titled The Deep Things of Life invites all men in the community to ponder big thoughts as well as small.
Prof Chas F Underhill presents a dramatic recital in Hershey Park’s dancing pavilion as the fifth Star Entertainment Course event. It features a full evening of dramatic interpretation rather than speeches, with a mixed program possible. Tickets are twenty five cents at the door or from the Y M C A. program begins at eight.
The Hershey Park Conservatory and Mansion greenshouses stock up for a summer display. Over two thousand geraniums, six cart loads of camara root, and three thousand cuttings of colons and other plants are prepared. Six hundred bulbs of hyacinths tulips and daffodils will be dug and grown in the greenhouses. Open Sundays 1 to 5 pm.
Miss Adaline E. Horst and Ellis E. Hoffer were married Saturday evening at 1615 Derry Street Harrisburg in a ceremony led by Rev Daniel E Rupley. Attending were Miss Mary Horst of Mt Joy and Frank Wormley of Columbia as best man with Lydia Forney at the piano. A wedding supper followed.
The Y W C A held its annual meeting on February 27 in the gymnasium. Directors reelected for three years, treasurer reports show 167.00 on hand and receipts of 420.33. Miss Hopper addressed the gathering and will attend noon lunches to meet the girls. There are 120 names on the roll and membership districts aim to double soon. The Board will meet next week to elect officers and name committees.
Lenten services at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Hershey Park will focus on Epistles to the Hebrews at the main service.
The Hershey Band performs tonight. A local concert event promises lively music and community entertainment at the town venue with doors opening early and a full program announced by the organizers.
