Cadbury Town of Bournville Shows a Reform Dream
George Cadbury created Bournville near Birmingham to improve working class living conditions. Attractive brick houses with gardens, village prizes for gardens, and facilities like tennis, football, a swimming pool, and a gym shape the community. Death rate lower than Birmingham, and local boys show greater chest measurements, reflecting healthier living. The project was placed in a perpetual trust in 1900 to continue Cadbury's ideas.
