Hershey executive Lewis P Emerich retires after 46 years
Lewis P Emerich ends a 46 year run with the Hershey Chocolate Corporation retiring April 6. A Schuylkill Haven native, he watched the Shipping Department grow from two 20,000 pound carloads in 1910 to as many as seventy 50,000 pound loads daily. He was a former Hershey baseball pitcher and avid outdoorsman who golfed on Hershey Country Club’s original 9 hole layout.

Peak Tulip Display At Hershey Gardens This Weekend
The tulip display at Hershey Gardens will peak this weekend according to Harry L Erdman chief horticulturist. About 30 000 bulbs are blooming with over 101 varieties including ten new types never shown in the United States. The 21 acre showplace is open daily from 10 am to 8 pm with free admission and parking.

Junior Anglers Set For Fishing Derby
Spring Creek will host hundreds of Derry Township youths from Juvenile Country Club to David Gray's home for the community derby all day Saturday. A Friday May 4 meeting at 6 30 p m in the Little Theater invites all registered anglers. Derby runs 8 a m to 4 p m with prizes for the largest trout announced by Ralph L Hoar director of the Community Club.

Veterans Plan Memorial Day Parade In Derry Township
Plans for the annual Memorial Day parade and observance were set at a joint meeting of Post 386 American Legion and Hershey Memorial Post 3502 VFW.
