Edward J. Sakal was installed as president of the Hershey Lions Club at a recent meeting in the Community Dining Room. Irvin C. Hess became first vice president with Samuel DeAngelis as second and George B. McClees as third. Also installed were David M. Uhrich secretary B Francis Garman treasurer G Walter Dulbehlen tail twister Robert Hetrick Lion tamer and directors Otho Schiefer and Frank Schwartz. Morse Heisey retiring president led the dinner. Heisey reported his attendance at eleven Lions Clubs in as many states during a southern western trip. Hess presented a report on the state convention in Pittsburgh and Harry B Reese Jr reported on the golf tournament. Arthur Garrison tied for state honors. Reese was runner up for low score. Hershey members Garrison Reese Henry Wannimaker Jr and others competed in the tournament.

The Dairy Cattle Show at the Pennsylvania Dutch Days in Hershey Park will offer $4100 in cash prizes for Holstein Guernsey Ayrshire and Jersey entries. The event runs August 25 to 28 with judging August 25 at 6 p.m. A cattle parade and 4-H activities accompany the show. The Dauphin and Lebanon County 4-H and FFA Market Hog Show and Sale will occur near the stadium with judging Thursday morning and sale at 2 p.m.
John P. Meszaros of Nanty-Glo has been named assistant director of horticulture for Hershey Estates, reporting to chief horticulturist Harry Erdman. His background includes work with nurseries, CCC and Army service, advanced degrees at Rutgers and Penn State, and a 1946 marriage to Dorothy Griffith. He later joined Penn State as a specialist in floriculture.
