Milton S. Hershey’s life as a father to thousands of orphans is the Father’s Day subject for Hallmark Hall of Fame on NBC. The program airs Sunday at 5 pm via WGAL-TV Channel 8 with a life size screen shown at Hershey Park. Local RCA dealers arranged transmission from WGAL-TV to the park theater screen.

Summer Playground Opens At Memorial Field This Week
Memorial Field hosts the summer recreation program run by the Derry Township School District starting Monday. Recreation Director John Hanshue says activities target both children and adults with hours 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. June 13 to 27, including tournaments doll shows and various sports and hobby events.

Hershey High Band Ends Year With New York Junket
The Hershey High School Band capped a busy year with a two day exchange trip to Bellport Long Island and a visit to New York City. They performed at Bellport High School with director Paul G Fisher and were hosted by Bellport families. The program featured the Hershey March by Karl Moyer conducted by Moyer. The group toured Radio City Music Hall Rockefeller Center and the United Nations then returned home. Transportation was organized by J Lee McConnell with chaperones Paul G Fisher and Radnor Harkcom. Funds totaled 500 with 400 raised by students and 100 by the Band Parents Association.

Mayan Celebrates 25th Year as Priest at St. Joan of Arc
Rev. Anthony J. Mayan of St. Joan of Arc Church marked the twenty-fifth anniversary of his ordination with a Solemn High Mass and Benediction. He was ordained in Baltimore on June 12, 1930 by Archbishop Michael J. Curley. Since 1941 in Hershey he has led a twenty-year building program adding an eight-room school in 1948 a new rectory and four classroom expansion in 1954 and plans for a convent a new church and further school additions.
