Artist's sketch shows the new training school design after groundbreaking on the hill east of Hotel Hershey. The $1,360,000 facility, described as one of the most complete of its kind in the United States, is set for completion in about fifteen months.
The tenth annual Pennsylvania Dutch Days at Hershey Park August 21 to 24 features 100 Dutch craftsmen 300 quilts and the 16th National Plowing Contest and Conservation Exhibit. Highlights include Dutch dialects, music by the Johnny Schmoker Band, a steam calliope, square dancing, a dairy cattle show, poultry festival, hay show, pony school, and traditional foods with no admission except for food. A Farm Salute to agriculture opens August 21.
Groundbreaking for the Pennsylvania State Police training school near Hershey was led by Governor George M. Leader. The 28 acre hilltop site will cost 1 359 545 dollars and finish in about fifteen months. The gift of Hershey Estates, the complex includes classrooms, a gym, dining for 100, ranges, stables, dorms, and extensive support facilities.
