Hershey worker saves Palmyra boy from Swatara Creek
Mervin W. Lutz a Hershey Chocolate Corporation plant employee learned artificial respiration as a Boy Scout and plunged into muddy Swatara Creek to rescue ten year old Jimmy Jordan of Palmyra. He pulled the unconscious boy from the water and performed resuscitation for about thirty minutes until the child regained color and consciousness. The rescue occurred Monday July 7 near Swatara Creek. Palmyra Ambulance crew arrived to find the boy improving and later reported he was fine.
