Teen Canteen Elects Programmers for Teen Canteen Board

The Teen Canteen program will elect a new governance committee on Saturday night February 23. Don Hess, Hershey Optimist Club boys work chairman, announces offices for president vice president secretary treasurer and sergeant at arms. The slate draws from local youth groups including Hershey High School clubs and area churches to shape Friday and Saturday program rules and activities while Optimist members maintain overall supervision as chaperones.

Hershey High Student Receives National Merit Honor

Jean Ott a Hershey High School senior is named a Pennsylvania state runner-up in the 1957 National Merit Scholarship program recognized by NMSC President John M. Stalnaker. Principal George D. Lange notes she is among the top one or two percent in ability in the state and will receive letters of recommendation for college applications.

Trio Advances In Hershey Troop 108 Scouting

Three boys were advanced in Scouting by Hershey's Troop 108 Board of Review. Timothy Stohler reached First Class while James Nelson Jr and Daniel Boltz became Second Class Scouts. New members Joseph Jaio John Jaio Jack Sariano and Charles Rippon raised troop to eighteen Boy Scouts and sixteen Explorer Scouts. Scoutmaster John Piergallini assistant Bill Dowhower. Committee chair Al Mayan announced campsite inspection near Hummelstown and welcomed Anthony Delisi and John Sariano Sr to the troop committee.

Flower Arranging Class Starts March 20 in Hershey

The Hershey Community Club moves the floral arrangement course start to March 20 to secure qualified instructors and better outdoor materials. Sessions run March 20, 27 at 7 30 p.m. and April 3, 10 at 2 p.m. Derry Township residents may enroll. Hershey Club members free, non members pay 1 dollar for the course led by Nancy George of Carlisle.

Lad and Dad Dinner honors Eagle Scout Dayle Stare

One hundred fifty Cub and Boy Scouts of Troop 65 Hershey with fathers attended the 31st Lad and Dad Dinner in the Community Building Dining Room. Eagle Scout Dayle Stare received the Eagle badge and the Honor Scout Statuette for 1956 from Scoutmaster Carl Hess.

Women to Gather Funds for Heart Campaign Here

The Ladies Auxiliary of Hershey's Veterans of Foreign Wars post will lead a Heart Fund campaign with community volunteers on Heart Sunday February 24 from 1 to 3 PM. The effort aims to raise contributions across the community with help from other residents.
