Bicycle Safety Program Set for Saturday in Hershey
Hershey Optimist Club will host its second annual Bicycle Safety Program at Hershey High School Playground Plaza on Saturday April 14 starting at 9 A M. Up to 3 000 circulars were distributed to Derry Township and St. Joan of Arc Catholic School pupils. The event offers free registration with a membership card and numbered safety emblem, bicycle safety drill tests, film on bicycle safety, a ventriloquist act by William Fisler, and a prize drawing for a new bicycle. If rain occurs the event will be moved to Saturday April 21.

New Pumper Passes Tests Busy Season Planned For With 22 Members Aboard
Twenty two members of the Hershey Volunteer Fire Company tested a new Oren pumper on Hockersville Road and Sand Hills reaching twenty miles per hour. It passed exhaustive pumping tests at the Rose Garden and was loaded with four thousand dollars worth of hose and equipment. Plans for a busy season include weekly golf lessons by Johnny Weitzel at Hershey Country Club for juvenile members of the Community Club.

Convent Building Dedication by St. Joan of Arc Parish
The St. Joan of Arc Parish dedicated a new brick convent valued at 135000 dollars. Bishop George L. Leech blessed the two story facility, with Auxiliary Bishop Designate Lawrence F. Schott delivering the sermon. An open house drew hundreds as sisters prepare to move in and use the building for classrooms, chapel and housing.

Junior Anglers Await Fishing Day
Hershey youngsters prepare for the Community Club's third annual Fishing Derby Day set for Saturday May 5 in Spring Creek. Prizes will go to the three largest catches during 8 am to 4 pm, limited to cadet members, with younger children under eight as guests. The record stands at a 22 inch rainbow trout by Larry Geib. Steve Miller won last year and Robert Bucher in 1954.
