Committed death by own action Winterkorn hanged in county jail
Karl Winterkorn, a sheep herder, ended his life in the county jail yesterday forenoon between 11 730 and 1 o'clock. He had returned to A J Cook's sheep ranch on Little Butler Creek after a ten day spree in Heppner. After prior strange conduct and a prior hanging attempt at the ranch, a ranch hand fetched Cook who came to town and brought Winterkorn to the city.

Wool sale expected at cafe with large holdings
About half a million pounds of wool to be offered at the cafe today with 25,000 pounds at the Woolgrowers warehouse and a similar amount at the Heppner and Company warehouse. Wool from Morrow and Northern Grant is ready for market and Heppner will handle around 8,000,000 pounds for the season, hoping prices remain favorable under sealed bids. Also a note promoting Chamberlains Stomach and Liver Tablets for sick headache, sold by Slocum Drug Co.
