Letters From the Front and War-Church Reflections
A 1918 wartime column shares a brother Gregory Roth’s shipboard letters from the Atlantic. He describes monotony at sea, sights of sharks and an iceberg, seasickness past, and hopes to return home. Also included are reflections from a front line army chaplain and a Catholic priest about religious service amid destruction and hope for postwar unity.
