Death of Mrs William McCoy in Magnolia Illinois

Nancy Dent McCoy Shields was born January 26 1821 in Morgantown West Virginia and died March 26 1902 near Magnolia Illinois after a long illness. She married twice first to John Shields with five children four surviving, then to William McCoy with one son Frank. A devoted M E church member she endured multiple strokes yet remained serene and active in faith. Funeral services were held in Magnolia with Reverend A K Tullis officiating and burial in Magnolia cemetery. Relatives and friends from Toluca Wenona Centralia and nearby towns attended.

Fogerty Rites Hold Near Putnam After Irish Born Farmer Dies

Timothy Fogerty Sr died at his Putnam Illinois home on March 25 1902 at age 73 74 born in Tipperary Ireland 1828 came to America 1846 married Mary OBrien 1867 eight children Catherine now Mrs Hugh Finnegan John Timothy Mary Alice William and Cecilia with Margaret dying in infancy. Funeral at home then St Francis cemetery Henry with Rev Father Emery. Survived by widow seven children sister Catherine Williams Cheyenne Wyoming half sister Mrs Michael Sutton Henry.

Silver Medal Contest at McNabb Hall March 28

The fifth silver medal contest under the W C T U auspices drew a large audience at McNabb hall. A literary program included Beck's orchestra, vocal and instrumental items, and a talk by Mildred Smith. Nod received the medal from Supt Hawthorne, with Lord Granville and Ward among the awarding committee. The sixth contest is set for Mt Palatine on April 4, with gold medal plans to follow.
