Funeral for Mrs. Downey Held in Henry Church
Funeral services were held Monday from the late residence in Henry for Mrs. Marshall Downey who died Saturday at 4:15 a.m. Burial was in Henry City Cemetery. Rev. Walter Ward officiated, with Rev. Nesbitt of Princeton and other local clergy participating. Surviving: husband, son Gordon Downey, two sisters, two nephews, and three grandchildren.

Conrad Ericson moves his grocery to the Ferdinand Kapraun building across from the old site in Henry. Improvements include new shelving, a larger space about half again the former, a front canopy for fresh produce, enhanced lighting, and a seven foot by two and a half foot refrigerator. The store offers three product grades, delivery service, and staff includes Miss Alice Finnegan Wayland Downey and Delbert Barnes.

A 90 piece band directed by Prof. Kethur Wet will present its first summer concert this evening at 8 in Central Park. Seized four months ago, the group has made rapid progress and promises a lively program including Marches, Moonlight serenade, The Rose, and America finale.

Shared plan to build new west of Henry route
Henry and nearby towns Bradford and Tiskilwa organized a joint effort to secure an improved blacktop secondary road system connecting the three communities. A Henry meeting outlined a plan to send a delegation to Springfield to push state and federal aid, with routes drawn by R. L. Schoenberger. The proposal targets a large, presently underserved rural area west of Henry, with potential branches to Bradford and connections to Tiskilwa, to be decided by state officials.
