Downtown hotel on mill site eyed to boost Seventh Avenue
City officials and developers discuss placing a hotel with a 80 to 100 rooms and a 150 to 200 person conference space on the Grey Hosiery Mill site. Tourism officials back the plan, noting it would bridge Seventh Avenue with Main Street, attract conferences year round, and make downtown more walkable. The idea faces opposition to a separate five story hotel and parking deck on the Dogwood lot.
