Mills River Council weighs truck traffic with tax breaks
Mills River council unanimously approved up to 21 000 in tax incentives to lure Empire Distributors NC to build a 20 million distribution center on 25 acres near Broad Pointe. The project would add 15 jobs and 90 to 100 existing Arden employees would earn about 40 000 annually. DOT plans to pave and widen the road serving the site to handle larger trucks. The county granted up to 479 000 in incentives over seven years if the 20 million investment and 15 new jobs are made.
