United Way seeks funding for Henderson County grants
The United Way of Henderson County invites 501(c)(3) or public health and human service groups with at least two years of service in Henderson County to apply for 2018 19 funding. Eligible programs must align with HC2025 goals in Education Income Health or Basic Needs and Crisis Services with results to show impact. Applications due February 2 and eligibility cutoff December 1 with early orientation for new agencies.

20 year old candidate Moore launches write in bid
John Moore, a 20 year old community college student, has launched a write in campaign for Hendersonville City Council after the county Elections Board ruled he is too young. He appeals to the state Supreme Court amid a legal clash between state law and the city charter. Moore says state law favors eligibility while the charter requires residency and qualification as a voter. The high court could decide by Nov 3, five days before the election, as early voting begins. Moore is represented by John Noor of Roberts Stevens in Asheville.
