Blue Ridge Railroad stores cars on line near Flat Rock
Residents along the Blue Ridge Railroad observed freight cars being stored on tracks near Flat Rock for several days. Western North Carolina marketing manager Brigid Rich said no new customers exist on that segment. the locomotives simply stationed gondolas for months while the southeast line from Hendersonville to Saluda remains unused. The Ecusta Trail greenway plan would require railbanking and sale of the line, a process Rich had no news about. The article also notes Hope Street Group’s statewide education improvement program and instructional coaching efforts in North Carolina schools.
