Treatment center sale closes at Mills River site

Twelve Oaks LLC, formed by Pyramid Healthcare Inc, bought 12 acres on Old Turnpike Road for 2.3 million dollars, with a 10,000 square foot home valued at 1.16 million. The project had a special use permit amid neighbor opposition and will be overseen by a seven member advisory group.

Laurel Park cafe owner charged in elder exploitation case

Kim Ellen Justice, 56, owner of Tooley's Café in Laurel Park, faces seven felonies for alleged theft of 208,463 from an elderly man who named her beneficiary of 2.65 million in investments. State Bureau of Investigation agents arrested her after a Henderson County grand jury indicted three counts of exploitation of an elder and four counts of embezzlement. Justice posted 44,000 bond and waived counsel at a Thursday district court appearance. She called the situation “a mess” in a Monday interview.
