Henderson County Keeps Tax Rate at 51.36 Cents
Henderson County Commissioners approved a $110 million budget for 2013 14 and voted 3 2 to keep the tax rate at 51.36 cents per 100 valuation, rejecting a plan to cut to 50 cents. The decision preserves funds for public safety education parks and nonprofit requests while adding ambulance crews sheriff's deputies and a park project in Tuxedo Green River. County officials noted that lowering the rate could drain fund balances and harm future reserves, as managers shifted funds to meet school and recreation needs and approved several grant requests. The vote also preserved $635 000 for a soccer field lighting and a recreation center project at the former Hendersonville Christian School.
