Grant funds Sandburg visits by fourth graders
A National Park Foundation grant enables all Henderson County public school fourth graders to visit the Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site with extra funding for four neighboring schools. The Open Outdoors for Kids program ties to Every Kid in a Park, offering free annual passes to 2,000 federal recreation sites. Superintendent Tyrone Brandyburg says the centennial goal is to introduce families to national treasures and parks.
