New Valley Hill station speeds Crab Creek emergency response
Valley Hill Fire & Rescue opened the Edney Station on Golden Eagle Way to serve Jeter Mountain and the Transylvania line, boosting EMS and fire coverage. The 5300 square foot facility cost 900000 on three acres donated by the Edney Family Trust and halves insurance ratings for many homes to class 4 from prior class 9 or 10, with all areas within 6 miles likely to have better coverage. The station, staffed 24/7 by two paid firefighters, operates a pumper, two tankers, and an EMT staffed EMS truck, and replaces an old nearby site that is now sold to the county.
