Publix development proposal heads to Hendersonville Planning Board

The proposed Publix supermarket on Greenville Highway at White Street is set for a Planning Board hearing at 4 p.m. Monday. Halvorsen Development Corp. of Boca Raton, Fla. filed plans for a 49,000 square foot store on 6.9 acres, seeking variances on stream buffers and planting strips with Kimley-Horn and Associates as planners. If approved, the special use permit moves to City Council. NCDOT will review traffic, and landscaping will be enhanced due to entry corridor rules. Publix would be the 18th grocery in Henderson County amid Ingles expansion plans nearby.
